A truffle workshop (for the whole family)!

How does the sound of a truffle workshop grab you? From July onwards, Les Vignerons de Buzet will be offering you the chance to discover the ‘’diamond” of the Lot-et-Garonne forests. After this workshop, you will no longer be able to walk through the woods with the kids without trying to find them! This activity will appeal to adults and children alike! Whether you are a fan of truffly flavours or simply a novice and keen to know more, this experience is right up your street!  So, if you haven't already booked your place, read the rest of the article and hesitate no more… this is the must-do activity at the Vignerons de Buzet winery this summer!

Why learn about truffles?

What exactly is a truffle? How is this highly prized, gourmet product, served at special meals and on special occasions, produced? What is it that makes it so exceptional? If you have ever asked yourself these questions, then you will love our truffle & wine workshop! This new workshop experience put together by the Cooperative winery is mainly spent out in the countryside, so what’s not to love? Visit the Lot et Garonne's truffle oak groves and, of course, taste our wines that pair perfectly with these truffly flavours!

Truffle farm visit

This experience starts with a visit to a truffle farm situated between Agen and Marmande, a few minutes from our winery. You will set off from Buzet-sur-Baïse with our guide to meet a member of the Lot et Garonne truffle-growing association who will give you a demonstration of truffle digging. And you really can’t beat a real-life demo! You will learn why, if the world’s most prized mushroom is to survive, it is important to protect the environment, just as it is for the vine. During this family-friendly experience, you will discover that a delicious product, be it truffles or wine, always comes from a love of the terroir!

Truffled butter and white wine tasting

After all the exertion, a reward is in order! Having learned all about what makes the black truffle so special, it is time to try it paired with some of our white wine!  And we have something for the kids too: a tasting of delicious local fruit juices (this activity is also a great opportunity to introduce the youngsters to new flavours). And after an outdoor excursion, it’s just the ticket! This very original activity brings together and showcases our two local specialities!

Our Château Loustalet is indeed an excellent match for the truffle. A dry white wine creates a more balanced pairing and its acidity is a nice foil for the unctuousness of the truffled butter! A real treat that we can't wait for you to try!
